Chesterfield Cultural Education Partnership (CCEP) has outlined bold plans to celebrate and cultivate grassroots creativity in Chesterfield.

This programme is part of the Arts Council England funded initiative to support children and young people to fulfil their creative potential and access high-quality cultural experiences.

Building on the success of a local project in Barrow Hill, the partnership has secured £80K to respond to local needs and interests, drive a more joined-up cultural education offer, share resources and to improve the visibility of cultural education in Chesterfield.

Plans are already underway, with school workshops underway and the recent launch of an exciting new youth group, called YouSpeak!

YouSpeak! is a forum for young people who want to make their voices heard to shape access to arts and culture in their local area. It offers creative young people in Y8-Y11 living in Chesterfield the opportunity to work with other young people to have their say, make a positive difference, learn new skills and collaborate with artists.

Lucie Maycock, community artist and Partner at CCEP said “We’re keen to reach young people who enjoy being creative and who want to have a voice and say in their community to
help steer the project. There’ll be the opportunity to work alongside other artists, as well as supporting pathways into a career in the arts”.

YouSpeak! will meet monthly, on the third Monday of the month, 6-8pm. It’s an informal artist-led group with the opportunity to get involved in a range of activities – everything from show and tell, artist talks, creative workshops and discussions.

Places are limited, if you know of a young person who would fit with this role please get in touch with us via hello@ccecp.org.uk for an informal chat. Or drop in to one of the sessions at Monkey Park Community Hub, Brampton, Chesterfield (Every third Monday of the month).

In addition, a new group for emerging artists is on it’s way and a series of pop-up events is planned for 2026 to celebrate creativity in Chesterfield!
