A new group aims to address the gap in opportunities for connectivity and collaboration among creatives in Chesterfield.

Called Artists Jam, this new monthly group will bring together local artists and practitioners to explore innovative ways of working and develop their skills.

Lucie Maycock, local artist and founding partner said, “The idea for Artists Jam arose from the lack of connectivity and collaboration among creatives in Chesterfield and the surrounding areas. Just as musicians come together to ‘jam,’ creating possibilities, new sounds, and sharing skills, we wanted to foster a similar atmosphere for artists seeking a safe space to develop their practice.”

A key aspect of the new group is that the sessions will be participant-led. This approach allows the group to address the specific needs of the local area and creative community.

Artists Jam is one of several initiatives by the Chesterfield Cultural Education Partnership, which strives to bring together cultural, educational, and community partners to enhance everyday access to arts and culture in a relevant and impactful way. This initiative demonstrates the Partnership’s commitment to placing collaboration, creativity, and community at the heart of everything they do.
